...You get some real humor/sadness. I caught this on the radio Sunday. Take an idiot reporter and send him out to do a “muscle car” article. Add one Dodge Charger Hellcat and you get some real “clueless reporting”. Some people...

Ugh, that sounded more like a Dodge ad than a story about modern muscle.

Oh, but he’s a
journalist,
don’t you know. The one degree that despite a pattern of drawing poor scholastic achievers conveys an instant expertise in, well, everything.

NPR is a joke sometimes. I can only deal with their actual “hard news” anymore. Their editorial rambling is just by-and-large complete horseshit.
They did a whole segment on personal pronoun preference among enlightened San Francisco elementary schoolkids to which the listeners responded with emails like “People are getting lynched around the world for being homosexual and we’re listening to pretentious kids calling themselves ‘ze,’ ‘zim,’ ‘zer’?” Enthralling and not the least bit out of touch.
I do like seeing an exodus of NPR talent like Scott Simon to other news outlets as the actual NPR is too interested in puff pieces and putting gay men (David Greene, Ari Shapiro, et al)on the air in the sole interest of sounding like they’re gay-friendly and competitive with Daily Beast/ Huffington/ CNN.

I mean, isn’t NPR’s target demo my grandma? She would love that article, and she would probably learn quite a bit from listening to it.

That’s a tough one - the demographic is going to initially hate the car just on principle. I think NPR generally does a good job of explaining a subject. While this reporter probably should have boned a up a bit on the material before, it’s a good introduction as to why people think the Hellcat cars are special. One can appreciate 707 supercharged horses even if you drive a hybrid, want to save whales and don’t agree with arctic drilling.

Not an idiot reporter, just a normal, non-car person.

You are so nice. My counterpoint is that if you do a story on a subject of which you have little knowledge, do some homework first.

True enough.
